Coastal Carolina Indian Center is pleased to announce that for the first time in the history of the Great Salt Water Educational Outreach Enrichment Program, four schools across the state of North Carolina are being acknowledged for CCIC’s Outstanding Fourth Grade Teachers and Students Award.
Fourth grade class enrollment size varies amongst these schools, but the one standout attribute each fourth grade class demonstrated was a solid understanding of the historic contributions associated with the Indians of North Carolina.
St. Pauls Elementary (Robeson County), White Oak Elementary (Carteret County), Pasquotank Elementary (Pasquotank~Elizabeth City), and Queens Creek Elementary (Onslow County) are the recipients of CCIC’s 2011 Outstanding Fourth Grade Teachers and Students Award.
CCIC selected these schools because of the educational goals set and accomplished by each of the fourth grade teachers encouraging their students to delve deeper with their studies of the rich history of North Carolina, which includes digging into the living history associated with the indigenous people of North Carolina.
The following fourth grades teachers and their students are to be commended for building a timeless bridge that acknowledges the living indigenous history of our beloved state:
