Role Models in the North Carolina Indian Community

February 5, 2007

Dear Working Public and Students At Large,

We'd like to request you submit to Coastal Carolina Indian Center the names of any Native American individuals within our state that you believe should be acknowledged as an Outstanding North Carolina Indian Role Model.

What makes someone a "role model" in the community?

He or she is presently making a meaningful contribution of their time within the community. This might be within the indigenous community, or the community-at-large.

Please include what this individual does as a day-to-day role model or "UNSUNG HERO" that you believe should be recognized. A few examples might be someone you know working within the public school system, an elder working as a volunteer within your school community, a student working as a volunteer mentoring younger students in an after-school program or volunteering at a local community center.

We'd also like to request you submit to CCIC the names of any Native American Community Center within your county and the director of the Center with a contact e-mail or snail mail address and/or telephone number so that we may create a comprehensive directory for the CCIC website.

Warmest Regards,

Teresa Morris
President, CCIC
