What's with all the ads? October 9, 2007 Some of you may have noticed that there are now several Google-based ads spread along the borders of this website. This is something that we have just put in place as of today in hopes that it might generate a tiny bit of revenue for CCIC. We have steady traffic each month and it is a good fundraising opportunity for us to be able to place these Google AdSense ads on our pages so that every 100 visits or so, a tiny commission goes into the CCIC's Google AdSense account. Please remember, folks. Coastal Carolina Indian Center is a 100% all volunteer effort. Many of the research resources used to put information on this site for our visitors were purchased out of pocket by CCIC volunteers. There are a number of other publications we would like to be able to purchase for CCIC so that we can put more information online for the thousands of visitors we receive each year— students, teachers, genealogy researchers, and folks just interested in history. We're not just about posting items for online research, though. CCIC has hopes of eventually opening a museum and re-creation of a pre-contact era Indian village (such as Secotan or Pomeioc) so that folks can walk through and live the experience, feel the history first-hand, and learn in a way that has never before been available in North Carolina. This will not happen without funding. The 2008 calendar year will mark a step forward into more assertive fundraising efforts in hopes of seeing some of CCIC's dreams come true. Please bear with the little ads. They may contribute just pennies a day to the site, but every little bit helps. The ads are not hand-picked by us, but rather are chosen by the Google engine, which determines ads that are likely to be related to the content on the pages by parsing keywords on the site. If you would like to contribute to Coastal Carolina Indian Center, we accept donations online or via regular mail. If you can only donate a few dollars, please do not think that it's not worth it to make a donation. EVERY BIT HELPS! Thank you.
