A Special "Thank You" to The History Place and the Carteret County Historical Society... We would like to thank The History Place of Morehead City and the Carteret County Historical Society for inviting Coastal Carolina Indian Center to speak before their group in October. During our visit, we shared the history and mission of Coastal Carolina Indian Center, as well as some of the history of the First People of the Coastal North Carolina. We commend the fine folks of the Carteret County Historical Society and The History Place for taking the initiative to dig deeper in honoring the whole history of the region, and not simply history from a Colonial perspective. It is through efforts like these that our Indigenous heritage can be remembered and can live on through educators who care enough to keep learning and teaching about those who were the First Residents of Coastal Carolina. |
