Amos Squires acquired his land from
Rodger Squires who had originally acquired it from Francis Delamar (who
had the original patent on the land).
The land was on the south side of the Bay
River.

names are not known, for being arrayed in a warlike manner with guns,
clubs, and other weapons, waging war against the state, building a
fortification in military form and defending themselves therein and
maintaining it as an asylum for deserters and for the purpose of
avoiding paying taxes.
